This allows humankind to ignore its natural carrying capacity, growing far larger than the earth can support. The human population has grown exponentially, with no natural predators and technological advancements, we are living longer and reproducing just as much. Now Yellowstone’s ecosystem has begun to bounce back, the reintroduction of the wolves has become one of the most successful rewilding projects to date. This threw the entire ecosystem of Yellowstone out of balance until the wolves were reintroduced in the 1990s. The depletion of the wolf population led to the overpopulation of elk which overgrazed the park’s fauna. The gray wolves in Yellowstone were hunted to extinction by local farmers who found them a nuisance. There have been several successful rewilding projects internationally, one of the most notable being in Yellowstone National Park. This is done by reintroducing apex predators, keystone species, and ramping up conservation efforts. Rewilding is the large-scale conservation effort to restore biodiversity and ecosystem health in critical areas. If we are able to come together to find solutions to this crisis, the world may yet again be as wild as it once was. The changes that must be made to achieve such feats seem daunting and expensive but are simpler than you may think. There’s a lot we can learn from these solutions: RewildingĪs Attenborough puts it, “we must rewild the wild” and that is exactly what some nations are doing, including Costa Rica where a once lost forest has been restored to its lush, green glory. Countries around the world are implementing solutions that are making a positive impact on the environment, wildlife, and human life. In his 96 years of life, Attenborough has witnessed the ways our world has changed up close.ĭespite the many challenges our planet faces, including rising temperatures, wildlife endangerment, and overpopulation, “A Life on Our Planet” paints an optimistic future of possibility. He can be credited with bringing the uniqueness of our planet to living rooms everywhere, giving insight to the wonder and importance of nature. Enjoy.David Attenborough has spent his life documenting and exploring nature. What a crazy world.□ Costner and the main crew are just the best ensemble cast I've seen since the Fargo TV series, can't wait 'til the next episode. and buy a big chunk of land with a ranchhouse on it close to Bozeman, and have money left over. you could actually sell your tiny, cramped home in Vancouver B. Maybe I could exchange my 33ft lot for a couple of thousand acres there and set up shop. The acting, the displays of horse handling and cowboy expertise makes you want to sell your house and move there. WTF do I know? Apart from that minor niggle I am completely engrossed in the unfolding story. Of course this may be seen by others as an asset in her make up. I mean, nobody could get away with behaviour like that in today's world. The exaggeration of her wrecking ball tendencies in the corporate world takes the scenes to the wrong side of believability and the show suffers from it a bit. The reality is that she is a wrecking ball with no redeeming qualities. I think the writers have tried to make her more of a dual personality but they have failed in trying to convince us that this type of character has some inner soft heart. A character that no one could have any affection for, not even the father, but we all set aside our dislike in the name of cinematic license. Up to now she's been just a straight up nasty piece of work. This is especially so with their portrayal of Beth, John Dutton's psycho daughter. While the series maintains its absolute top quality entertainment value there's signs that the writers are getting tired.
